Olivia S. Kates, MD is a third-year fellow in infectious diseases at the University of Washington in Seattle and a researcher at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in bioethics and humanities at the University of Washington. Her research interests are the intersections of infectious diseases and bioethics in areas such as antimicrobial stewardship, transplantation, vaccination, and outbreak response.

Monica Gandhi, MD, MPH is a professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She is also the director of the UCSF Center for AIDS Research and the medical director of the HIV Clinic at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.
